From Tragedy to Celebration: The Stark Contrasts of Unemployment and World Cup Fever

Man Dies By Suicide After Failing To Get Job Despite Being MBA

Unemployment.. is it a worth discussing issue in India? Let me tell you a news. Fed up with being unemployed despite being an MBA, a man allegedly died by suicide in Varanasi. What do you think about this news? This is a new reality of youth of a nation who is known as “Vishwaguru” or a Vishwaguru to be nation. We have everything a world class superstar Global Leader “as claimed by BJP camp”. We are world champions in Cricket. We have various glorious and giant statues, world class temples. And don’t forget we are 5th major economy and just on the edge of becoming the 3rd with 5 trillion economy. So, now as we have all these then who cares about someone taking his/her own life after losing all hopes of getting a respectable job?

Do you care….? Not sure and why would anyone care also. A PM can congratulate our cricket team just after they won the match but the same PM didn’t utter a word on critical issues like unemployment, Manipur, pathetic quality of newly constructed infrastructure etc.

Now let me tell you what’s going on here.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Harish. “Harish’s wife Sanchita also took the extreme step and jumped off the roof at her father’s house in Gorakhpur upon receiving the news of her husband’s demise. The police said that Harish after working in a bank in Mumbai for a few days, returned to Gorakhpur to take care of his wife due to her ill health and lost his job.

“Harish, a resident of Barh town in Bihar, was unemployed for the last two years. For about a year, he was living in his in-laws’ house in Gorakhpur. On Friday last, he left to go home to Bihar, but instead of going home, he reached Sarnath in Varanasi and there died by suicide. Harish and Sanchita had got married just two years ago.

Growing Unemployment and clueless Youth

If we all are done with celebration of our victory in world cup and “abki baar 400 paar” vibe. I think we can discuss a non important issue now i.e Unemployment.

Unemployment
unemployment

As per Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) reports The unemployment rate rose to an eight-month high of 9.2 per cent in June 2024, up from 7 per cent in the previous month. It was 8.5 per cent in June 2023. The numbers are based on the Consumer Pyramids Household Survey that CMIE conducts periodically. The female unemployment rate was higher than the national average at 18.5 per cent in June 2024 compared to 15.1 per cent in the same month last year. The male unemployment rate was 7.8 per cent compared to 7.7 per cent in the same month last year.

According to the latest data:

India has the largest youth population in the world, with around 66% of the total population (more than 808 million) being below the age of 35. States like Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan are projected to have over 52% of the country’s youth population. “Largest Youth Population” this sentence makes everyone proud including our beloved ministers.

We are World’s youngest nation…. this is a favourite line in the speeches of our ministers but what happens whenever it comes to talk over unemployment? Leaders of a particular camp comes up with a beautiful and innovative ideas such as pakoda shop, any private job etc. technically the blind followers and their party is in power hence they have got every rights to suggest these out of box ideas.

Now coming to the news.. committing suicide is not a solution of any problem rather it’s a crime. Coming out to celebrate world cup win is good but coming out for your rights and important issues are even more important. Always discuss your problems with your friends and family. For your mental health watch parliament sessions it’s more fun than a cricket match and it’s going great.
